A little about me
Born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley, I went to high school at San Gabriel Academy and earned my B.A. in Philosophy at UCLA with a minor in Chicana and Chicano Studies. I started my own college advising consultancy in 2011 and have helped over 500 students apply and be accepted at top U.S. universities and colleges. I'm currently attending the USC Rossier School of Education to earn my Master's in School Counseling. I love getting to know students, planning events, playing board games, and throwing a football around. I have a five-year-old son named Lincoln, who loves making new friends.

Carmenita Middle School has 4 sports for girls, 4 sports for boys, and 5 clubs for everyone. Teams include: Girls Volleyball, Softball, Track and Basketball, as well as Boys Flag Football, Basketball, Track, and Soccer. Clubs include: Christian Club, C.J.S.F. (the service club), Science Club, Distinguished Scholar Program, and the W.E.B. Program.

A variety of organized sports and activities are available for residents of all ages at two community gymnasiums, built through the cooperation of the City of Cerritos and the ABC Unified School District. Each gym contains 2 full-size basketball courts, 2 volleyball courts, and 6 badminton courts. For more information on drop-in play hours or classes, see the quarterly Community Services Program inside the February, May, August, and November issues of "The Cerritos News."

Farm-fresh produce is offered for sale every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Cerritos Farmers Market. The market is held at the Cerritos Towne Center in the northwest parking lot of the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. Free parking for the market is available in the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts parking lot. The Cerritos Farmers Market is held rain or shine throughout the year. The market is closed on major holidays.

HYC also provides homelessness and food access services.

As a result, they know the community well and have developed strong community partnerships with local schools and other local social service agencies.
